Największy sukces podczas tegorocznej edycji The Game Awards odniosło bez dwóch zdań Baldur’s Gate 3. Najnowsza odsłona kultowej serii RPG zdobyła łącznie aż sześć nagród, w tym tytuł najlepszej gry roku oraz nagrodę publiczności. Polskiej grze Cyberpunk 2077 udało się natomiast zwyciężyć w kategorii najlepiej rozwijana gra.
